Career in Healthcare Education

Healthcare is a broad field covering lot of occupations and industries such as hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities, ambulatory healthcare services, medical and diagnostic laboratories and many others. Due to this massive size of the Healthcare industry there is a massive demand for professional and reliable Healthcare Education degree programs.

The demand for Healthcare Education can be judged by the fact that only in 2008 the Healthcare industry generated 14.3 million jobs for wage and salaried employees. This made it the largest paying industry that year. Additionally, The Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports that among the field of Healthcare, there are ten professions that come under Healthcare which are in the list of top twenty fastest growing occupations between 2008 and 2018. Furthermore, the BLS states that the Healthcare industry will create 3.2 million jobs for the 2008-18 decade.

It is natural that with the growth in the Healthcare industry, there is a constant increase in demand for Healthcare Education programs. Accredited colleges and universities offer Healthcare Education for which the coursework may focus on biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, diet, exercise, massage therapy, physical therapy, clinical psychology, public policy, hospital ethics, and even healthcare administration.

Healthcare Education is available from Associate’s level degree to doctoral degrees and MBA programs. You can work in the healthcare sector as nurses and technicians with an associate’s degree and some experience, whereas for positions such as therapist and health inspectors, you need a 4 year bachelor’s degree. To become doctors and surgeons that diagnose and treat people, you have to acquire special Healthcare Education and earn at least a master’s level degree with many years of specialized experience and training.
